University Admissions

About University Admissions

The University Admissions category on ScholarsAfrik guides Nigerian students through one of the most important journeys of their academic lives: securing a place at the institution of their choice. Admission into a Nigerian university can feel like a maze of deadlines, screenings, and portals, and this section exists to make that path clear, predictable, and far less stressful. Here we cover the full admission cycle from start to finish. We explain how post-UTME screening works at federal, state, and private universities, including registration windows, screening fees, required documents, and what to expect on screening day. We break down how institutions calculate aggregate scores by combining your UTME result, post-UTME performance, and O-level grades, and we show you how to estimate your own chances against departmental cut-off marks. Our coverage of the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is especially detailed: we walk you through logging in, checking your admission status, accepting or rejecting an offer, and understanding why an offer may be delayed. Direct entry candidates are not left out. We explain how holders of National Diploma, NCE, A-level, IJMB and JUPEB qualifications can gain admission into 200 level, the documents required, and how to link direct-entry credentials to your JAMB profile. Beyond the mechanics, this section publishes timely news on admission list releases, supplementary admissions, change of course and institution, and merit versus catchment considerations. Once you are admitted, we help with the next steps too, from acceptance fee payment and school fees to matriculation, course registration, and hostel accommodation. Whether you are a fresh school leaver, a transfer student, or a parent supporting a candidate, the University Admissions category gives you accurate information, realistic expectations, and practical checklists so you can move confidently from application to enrolment at your chosen Nigerian university.
